Cooler Master VGA Cooler

Post by gamingphreek » Fri Jun 24, 2005 11:02 am

Currently i have the MSI 5900XT-VTD128. The cooler which i previously thought to be quiet is the main point of noise in my system it seems.

4x 80mm Panaflo 12L's @ 1/3 speed
1x 92mm Panaflo 12L @ 1/2 speed (CPU)
OCZ Powerstream PSU (AXP system so virtually no load)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA HDD
Chieftec Dragon Case

I assume this is a fairly quiet system; however, i have recently noticed that the fan on the Video Card has a much higher noise than my other equipment, soft but higher in pitch. So i figure i might as well replace it so i can use it in another system after i upgrade in the fall.

I saw this at SVC and was wondering if anyone knew anything about it?

Seeing that you have 4 case fans in your current set up, you should consider fanless VGA cooler. The Coolermaster VGA cooler you're looking at also has a fan which sooner or later is going to make noise.

You can search the forum for Zalman ZM80D, or Aerocool VM-101, or Thermaltake Fanless VGA Cooler. If you really want a HS with fan then Zalman VF-700 seem to be popular lately.

Good luck. :)

I have one for my 9600. While it looks good, keeps it cool, and was really cheap, I don't recommend it. After I made the mistake of buying it, reviews came out and said it didn't have enough cooling capability for the more powerful cards. It works great for the weaker ones though... so it all depends upon your ambient temps and what graphics card you have in my opinion... oh, I don't use the fan btw. It was too loud, but you can probably undervolt it to something acceptable

The fan is optional on the coolermaster.
