Fan controller access on geforce cards

Post by jamesm » Fri Jul 22, 2005 8:25 pm

Is there a way to change the fan speed of a GeForce 6600 GT?

I've done it before with gainward's expertool, but I'd like the changes to be permanent as I'll be using linux full time.

you can connect it to a fan controller or a fan mate. Its possible to set up a two pin connector with a three pin receiver. Just slot the two pins where the red and black wires are directly behind each receptor. That should do the trick. I do this currently.

yah, I'm doing that right now, but it would be nice to have the card automatically switch between 2D mode and 3D mode (like the onboard fan controller does)

The linux program [url=http://www.linuxhardware.org/nvclock/]nvclock[/url seems to have support for the fan controller in CVS. I'd still like to have the settings remembered by the card.
