Radeon 9600 Pro PC & Mac - Dual DVI & fanless

Post by jack_aubrey » Fri Aug 19, 2005 7:27 pm

ATI recently introduced a 9600 Pro variant that's fanless with dual DVI ports. Has anyone tried this out yet? It is a bit pricey and dated, but seems to address a frequent inquiry here. Runs on both PCs and Macs, too.

I had an AIW 9600.
Great GPU!
It can run Doom3 and HL2.
Just need to have modest settings ;)
800x600 NoAA @ Medium Quality.
That's pretty fare if you're not a PC gamer.
If you are used to playing games on consoles those settings will drop your jaw.
Mine never over heated.
And I ran a very low air circulation case.
All fans at 5v.
If gaming isn't your biggest concern, this is a great card... so is the AIW version.

Is the 9600 that strong?? My XT is really showing its age and a new video card is really needed.

But I gotta admit, its a cool running card. I think it puts out less than 30W, which is great.

Nice, but it's only AGP 4x, aren't most Radeon 9600's AGP 8x?
