They make noise, too.

Radeon **9700* W/ Zalman 80

Post by lidocaineus » Mon Dec 09, 2002 6:01 pm

My roommate and I both own Radeon 8500's, and he recently modded his with the Zalman ZM80+panaflo side blowing fan, so it's in all regards silent now. I was considering doing that with mine, but an opportunity is arising where I can get a Radeon 9700 Pro for free! Now I love me some good framerates, but I also care about noise - my gaming box is actually silent, except for the 8500 and a 15k Cheetah (which is actually really quiet, suprprisingly).

Question is, can I use the ZM80 on the 9700? I guess they are rated for things like GF3s/GF4s and Radeon 8500 level boards, but the 9700 is kind of a monster. Am I pushing it here if I throw on the ZM80?

Apparently this will work because Sapphire (the ATI OEM manufacturer) is advertising a version of their 9700 with the ZM80A "factory Mounted" on it. Their website is down right now or I'd throw up a direct link for you, but try this later: Sapphire
Main Box: Intel i3-3225, Intel DH77EB, 16GB Corsair RAM, 256GB Samsung 830, SS360GP PSU, CM PS07 case.
Music Server: Intel DH77EB + i3-3220, 2xSamsung 2TB F4, Pico PSU, Fractal Define Mini, 2xScythe Fans @250 rpm.
