Asus is announcing a "passive" Radeon X1600XT

According to VR-Zone, there's a new Radeon X1600XT on its way, and this one is completely passive. It's the Asus EAX1600XT Silent! There's no trace of this card on the Asus website at this time... The heatsink on this card and the 2 heatpipes makes me think of an Aerocool VM-101. To get an idea of this card, here are some pictures. You can click on any picture to enlarge it:

The heatsink looks smaller than the VM-101, but the heatpipes look soldered, which is good. The orientation of the fins is perpendicular to the main case airlow, not like on the VM-101. But no heatsinks on the memories? On my 6600GT with VM-101 I don't use memory heatsinks (500 MHz GDDR3), but the 1600XT has 690 MHz GDDR3...

Accordingly to this:-

its alot slower than the Gigabyte X800XL which is also passive.

Don't see the point of the X1600XT.

A passive X1800XL, now that would be interesting....

Hmm, interesting. Annoyingly though, I notice that the heat sink fins are still oriented in a way that isn't good for blowing air across it and out the rear of the case somehow. A lot of coolers seem to be this way....
