Quietest/prett good AGP VGA CARD for XP 3200+ 2 GIG memory??
I want to upgrade my silent TI 4400 up to something really nice but ig has to be agp and it has to have dual display. My system is kinda old 8x agp 3200+ XP with 2 gig pc 3200 memory and 2 suspended samsung 1604n. I want the fastest and quietest solution that will take advantage of my system. If a 7800 does not take advantage of my system then i probably don't want it. I am a little bit stingy on the card so 7800 might not work. What do you think will be best? I don' t need top of line but something nice! Thanks for all your help
Firstly, what kind of budget are you working towards spending, and what do you want the card to be usable for apart from dual display? Secondly, I don't think you can get a 7800 AGP (as of yet) otherwise I would wholeheartedly recommend it, as the fan is almost silent and it performs wonderfully. A decent AGP option may be a Radeon 9600/9800, or an X800 if you can afford it and need the power. A 9800 will let you play games and do most tasks, but nowadays not at the highest resolutions, so if you want top quality graphics I'd be inclined to go for the X800, although there is a large price jump. If you wanted something in between there's always an X700 or 6800.
As for silence, I know from experience that the 9800 and 9600 fans aren't the quietest out of the box, but a plus to having these are that there is a plethora of passive and quiet cooling solution available, and for the 6800 to a lesser extent. You can buy passive X800s, but would probably require a fan nearby to provide some airflow so may negate the advantage gained by having no fan on the card.
My few pence

You don't have a terrible system of course.. I would get the Gigabyte silentpipe x800xl which would make just about all games run very well, probably for some time to come as well.. (well. F.E.A.R. might not count)..
You might need something like a 5v fan blowing over it but that shouldn't increase overall system noise noticably..
