Gigabyte lower power 7800GT

this looks like a good card that has potential for passive cooling.....some people are already cooling their regular 7800GTs passively.

I also like the looks of that Asus motherboard below it.

Yes I saw that a short while ago and thought it looked pretty good. Factory fitted Zalman 700 quiet cooler, dual DVI and by all accounts a good price (in the US anyway). Definitely of interest to this community.

An AGP lower power 7600GT would be much appreciated.

Does anybody know a part # and/or release date for this video card?

I found this link http://tw.giga-byte.com/VGA/Products/Pr ... 56D-ZK.htm#

It still isn't listed on the USA web site but it's out on the taiwan site now. Hopefully it'll be up for sale soon.

OK, it's on the USA web site now http://us.giga-byte.com/VGA/Products/Pr ... 56D-ZK.htm

I still haven't found a price or any mention on any retail site.

This is showing up online at stores based in New Zealand for $700+ but I'm not sure what kind of dollars those are (I strongly suspect it isn't US dollars). It appears to be the same price as the non Zalman 7800 GT ($300+ US).

Google now finds 2 apparently US sites that have it listed for $371 and $364. Still waiting for a bigger site like Monarch, Zipzoomfly, or Newegg to carry it...

OK lower prices coming:

Zipzoomfly has it listed for (out of stock) $350 http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDe ... ode=322306

It's not ready for prime time but it's coming...

350 bucks is too expensive tho zipzoomfly always charges more. Considering u can get the copper zalman for ~30 bucks and a good 7800 from monarch for around 300, this is too expensive

their usually higher priced, but they almost always offer 2nd day air shipping FREE, which accounts for the higher price. also remember that the anandtech site said there would be a $35 mail in rebate at launch for it, and the already $20 rebate for all 7800gt's, so take 55 bucks off that price, add to that free 2nd day air, and its a damn good value.

But if you do that with any other 7800gt you'll end up with a higher power, hotter, noisier card.

The big deal about this card is that it is the first and only 7800 card to leave the VIVO chips off the PCB.

also, i'd love to see a link of a 7800gt for $300 shipped. i checked monarch, they dont have it. the lowest i can find is $319 from newegg for the eVGA one. add $30 bucks to that for a copper zalman and *GASP* its the exact same price as this card at zipzoomfly!! and the $35 rebate from gigabyte covers the cost of the zalman cooler on it which brings its price lower than any other 7800gt out that i can find right now. oh yeah, and did i forget to mention FREE 2nd DAY AIR for almost everything on zipzoomfly?

It's on pricewatch now.

Only one listing eWiz at $378 but that link should be to a growing list with lower prices to come...

It's in German but I haven't seen any other reviews...

http://www.de.tomshardware.com/graphic/ ... en-14.html

It appears to be a roundup of silent or near silent video cards.

Temps are on this page:

http://www.de.tomshardware.com/graphic/ ... en-40.html

the card that beats it on temps is water cooled.

Noise at:

http://www.de.tomshardware.com/graphic/ ... en-39.html

Gigabyte has 10 db(A) a quieter alternative with the Zalman exhaust.

To 350 euro the 7800 GT von Gigabyte with the Zalman exhaust are the better solution, that are quieter than the Asus competition. Being worth value does not appear SLI with 6600 GT, because is faster 7800 GT as single solution.

According to this website, the Gigabyte is still 4-5 db noisier than a 7800 GTX with stock cooler.
Maybe Rivatuner could help by reducing the fan speed in 2D.
The power is about the same as a 7800 GT with VIVO, so there's no gain for passive cooling.
But for those interested, it's in stock at Newegg now, at 329 US$ (294 after mail rebate).

Well that review doesn't specify how they tested and I suspect something is wrong with that statement. However until a more respectable site does a review...

Best price so far

It appears this rebate form can be used no matter where you purchase the card. Purchase has to be made between 11-15-05 and 12-31-05 (have about 3-4 weeks left to make the purchase). You then have 30 days from purchase to mail in the rebate.

Looks like the newegg bundle includes two dvi-VGA dongles, the power adapter, TV dongle, and a couple of games.

http://www.gigabyte-usa.com/Promos/COD2.html

Call of Duty 2 plus the $35 rebate if you buy before Dec 23rd and register the card online within 14 days

http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx ... ia=AA40450 $335 + $7.83 S&H to my zip

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814125214 $329 + $3.50 S&H + tax if you are in TN or CA if I remember right.

Zip Zoom Fly is still out of stock on it and listed at $350.

Tiger Direct and Monarch don't have it listed yet at any price.

I'm waiting for Monarch to list it. If they have it cheaper than mwave (after S&H is factored in) I'll buy it there, if not Mwave looks to have the best deal for me.

Newegg raised the price by $10.

Mwave is now cheaper for people outside of CA/TN.

Zipzoomfly has lowered the price by $10 to be in line with newegg but still doesn't have it in stock.

Tiger and Monarch still don't have a listing.

tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?MfrId=365&Nav=|c:1558|&Sort=3&Recs=10

you'll have to copy and paste the tigerdirect link (might require http://www. in front of the portion above if you use IE). The BBS software chops the link at the | symbol if I make it a full URL.

Newegg and Mwave chopped the price down $15.

Linkage:

http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx ... ia=AA40450
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814125214

Thats $319 + $7.83 S&H to my zip from mwave
or newegg at $314 + $3.50 S&H + tax if you are in TN or CA if I remember right.

$319+$7.83-$35 rebate = $291.83 shipped and rebated.

If you don't have the tax issue it's $314 +$3.50 - $35 = $282.50
