Zalman VF900 troubles on my x1950xtx

Post by falcon26 » Sat Oct 14, 2006 6:01 pm

I put the Zalman Vf900 onmy X1950XTX today. Idles now about 45C which is cool. But when I run 3dmark 06 or play BF2 For about 5 minutes or so I get a nice Beep from the computer. I exit the game or 3dmark and have a nice warning screen from CCC saying my card is running too hot. I check the temp from the CCC and it says my card was at like 77C WTF that's not that hot. Zalmans website says it supports the x1950xtx so why am I getting temp warnings? I play at 1680x1050 with 6x AA and 16x HQ AF. With the stock cooler on it, its fine. I thought the x1950xtx ran cooler than a regular x1900xtx. I'm totally confused now. I tried a artic cooling x2 a little while back and it too did the same thing.

even the few seconds it takes for you to exit the game and see the temp CCC is reporting will give the card enough time to cool down to the temp you're seeing. try and see if you can monitor the temp while gaming.

It may be that either

your card really IS running too hot
then in this case, recheck your mounting
the alarm tripoff in ccc is too low
if so then just put it up a bit higher

Did your cpu temperature also increase?

I suspect your case less air exhaust after changing to VF900.

My cpu temps are perfect their about 36C and about 45C load. How do I change the alarm in CCC to a higher temp level?
