Hi, ive been a semi lurker here for about a year (w00t 7 posts)
Anyway, would it be possible to run a thermalright v1 (non ultra) passively on an agp x800xl?
This guy said it could, but i really want some confirmation (im intending on running an si120 with this and the fan most probably wont fit)
Or am i better off just getting a vf700 for the same price (im not concerned about performance, as long as the temp stays safe)
Thanks
btw this community rocks

I would think that the x800 would put out as much heat as a 6800. So in my opinion I would not passively cool the x800 with the v-1.
If you had a x1600 or even an x1800 I think passive cooling would be possible. Kind of hard to believe but the the older x800 and 6xxx series cards always got very hot compared to the newer cards.
If you are looking for something that is really quite then you could always put in a very slow rpm 120mm fan on the heatsink and that would improve cooling dramtically.
