So I see the S1 is available at some sites (AU and Europe...no US :()...and they all list the Nvidia 7800 as compatible...but none specifically say if it's AGP / PCI-E or both...

Anyone have the latest info?

I'm still waiting for my supplier in Ontario to get these. Sales guy doesn't know when they'll be getting any. Kind of sucks. I really really want one of these.

I don't know the exact measurement, but when I had the passive X1950Pro, the S1 blocked the 2 SATA ports closest to the PCI slot on my MIS K8NGM2-FID. This cooler is long and tall.

A guy I know from a Dutch forum said he Emailed AC's Dutch office and asked about the S2, they said it was going to be released in The Netherlands somewhere halfway through may, which is like, I haven't seen it yet though.

On a German website (www.PCSilent.de), it says that they'll have the S2 the 31st of may, and it appears they've already been selling the S1 for over a month.

However, one dude that ordered the S1 had a missing part, and there are rumors that the first batch is full of stuff like that.

Accelero 2 and 120mm fan on an 8800GTS.

Can this ever happen?

That turbo model with 2x 80mm fans looks...ummm....

Apparently the Dutch importer has the S2 now. Should be in online shops like azerty.nl within a week or so.

I guess SilentPC.de should get it at about the same time. Although they've been saying they would have it the 31st of May, and they've been saying that since somewhere last month.

Both the S1 and S2 are in stock at the link below. It says "Pre-Order" until you click on the link for the actual product, then it says 10+ in stock.

Azerty.nl has S2 now as well.

Ordered it, but it seems something went wrong, didn't get an email from them about the order yet, and when I log in there's nothing on the order-list.

Oh, and by the way: THE S2 IS ONLY 15 SOMETHING EUROS! :D

Hi

Does anybody know if the S1 on a sapphire x1950 will fit in an Antec solo case?

A good review from X-Bit.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cooler ... olers.html

The Coolermaster product looks OK, but the fan is highly reccomended on high power cards - unlike the S1 which is just fine passive on an overclocked X1950 PRO.

Its a bit hard to tell from the pics... does the S1 take up one or two slots below the video card? All of my slots are full except for the one directly below the video card, so I'm hoping theres a way to make it fit!

I got an AC S1 from Overclockers.co.uk for my 6800gs and it's very good.
It's not too hard to fit - the black plastic clips were the fiddliest bit. In my setup I have a big 220mm fan in the side panel which i had to move to the outside cos this cooler is so big
The airflow from the side intake is not enough to keep this heatsink cool enough the way I hoped it might be. I ended up taking off the naff curved plastic strips and soft-mounted a 120mm fan to the fins with thin shock cord through the fin holes and foam tape on the fan corners.
I haven't tested thoroughly but so far it seems to stay around 46C on full load, with the fan on minimum speed as controlled by the card. This is pretty flippin awesome considering it used to hit 48-52C using an AC Accelero X1 (at which point it would throttle down - I think my card must have a faulty LM99 type thermal IC)
I cranked the clocks back up to 500/1100 and it's still stable. It's cooler than the X1 and quieter too - the X1's fan had an irritating ticking buzz despite very low db.
I guess we could do with a direct comparison between this and the HR-03 from somebody, but I for one am very happy with it!

I still don't have my S2..

Fucking azerty.

First they messed up for a full week. Not sending me any word of the order. And then when I Emailed them about it, they said the products were ready to be shipped, but that they were still waiting for me to pay. I guess they kinda forgot to tell me where to send my money, and with notice of what number. Now the nutters are finally starting to try and deliver it. Trouble is, the idiots come between 9am and 6pm, well, I leave for work at about 9am, and come back at about 6pm. So then there's nobody to take the package, which results in them dropping of a note saying "We'll come back the next day between 9am and 6pm.".. Don't you realize that people work at those hours? Can't you just deliver in the evening or something? They better not force me to go and pick it up somewhere, I paid for delivery so I want delivery :x

Well, after a long and tedious process, I gots my S2!

It works like a charm too.

I was a little dissapointed as it comes to build quality at first, fins were kinda crooked and bent here and there, and it all just felt like a tin can really. Just as well putting it on was a bit hard, it comes with a pair of clips to take some weight off the heatpipes, but these don't fit too well when the fins are crooked. Thusly so, it took a while for me to get em in. I suppose if you get a sample that's a little more straight, then that'll perhaps be a lot easier.

So, although I wouldn't really trust it to hold up more than it's own wait, it does work quite well.

I have it installed on an X1600XT, it's been relatively hot weather the last few days, but at 'idle' (Windows use, surfing the web, that kind of thing) it doesn't go over 45C, and at load (gaming) I've never seen it over 70C. For a passive cooler that cost me 15 euros, that isn't half bad! Especially considering that back when I had the stock cooler on, I used to have the fan running low (10-15%, because it was reaaally noisy otherwise) and then it used to go 60C at idle and like 80C-90C (!) at load.

Since I also recently got a Ninja and a new Nexus 120mm, I'll probably make a post in the gallery sometime soon.

So I'm a bit peeved...AC has now added to their site this below the requirements for the S1

"(except 7X00 GS AGP)"

Dang-nabbit! I hate this noisy fan!
Anyone know of anyone putting an S2 on a 7x00GS AGP? The S2 does support the 7 series (7600, 7300) Which do come in AGP...

Got mine yesterday (S1) and fitted it to my 7800GT.

I'm impressed...under load the card (according to ntune which may or may not be the bastion of correctness!) hasn't gone over 50 degrees C.

Idles at around 45.

Thats in a P180 with one nexus to vent externally and another attached to the Ninja. Both as low as a fanmate will let them go.

I was planning on shifting my setup from the P180 to a solo soon, but the S1 adds a bit of length to the card.

I know some of the 8800's have issues in the Solo due to length so I'm keen to know anyone who has the S1 mounted in a Solo / P150?

The card and the cooler together take up two slots. The X1600XT is originally a one slot card, so I had to sacrifice a slot, but I wasn't really using it anyway ;)

However, if you really want it work properly, I advice making sure there's another slot free under there.

[edit]

i just looked a bit closer at the design, i thought the heatpipes were near the top of the card, not coming up from the bottom. hence, bending the heatpipes to make the fins lie perpendicular to their original position wouldn't work as well as i'd hoped..

Just an FYI, the S1 and S2 seem to be widely available in the US now... Cheapest price I've found the S1 so far is sidewindercomputers.com ($25).

I'm developing interest in these coolers now that the stock 7900GTX cooler has started doing a much poorer job cooling the GPU. I read through this thread and several other places looking for an answer to the question of whether you can install something like a 92mm fan in case passive cooling alone doesn't get the job done. I mean, I'm sure I could use zip ties or something to jury rig a fan, but some clips would be nice. I'm going to email AC and find out.

any mention of it fitting an 8800gts? OR, another version that would?

i want to pop that baby on it then undervolt a 92mm nexus on top of one. .....i might ditch watercooling if this would work on a 8800gts
