Cooling an EAX1600Pro quietly

Post by shanizar » Thu Jan 18, 2007 7:01 am

I just put togehter a media center pc using this graphics card:
Asus EAX1600Pro
And the thing is noise as hell... The thing is this graphics card is low profile and I'm afraid that if I get just any cooler I might get one that won't fit on the card.

The case is no problem as it's an NSK2400. I do have a PCI card in there though, so I would prefeer it if the cooler didn't build too much in that direction.

Any suggestions for such a cooler?

I was more interested in hardware, coolers for low profile cards... Ati tray tools says my hardware doesn't support fan control, although that might be because of the drivers, I'm not sure.

It might work. I mean, it's worth a try. I've got my x1300 pro running at 27% fan speed. It's quiet and stable when gaming. Plus it's free!

Tried both ATI tray tools and Asus Smartdoctor, neither shows fan control options. Asked the question at guru3d and it seems the card doesn't support fan control. So now I'm stuck with either installing a fanmate on the fan or getting another cooler.

So, consider this a bump :) Does anyone know of a good cooler for a low profile EAX1600Pro as linked to in my first post?
