Ok I really need a good fan for my 2900 Pro with the new Thermalright HR-03 R600 cooler. The 92mm nexus real silent (or quiet) fan is not cutting it, it simply can not push enough air. This fan has me intrigued:

The fan on the 2900pro is also a pwm fan that plugs into the video card, but it uses a much smaller 4-pin connector. Would it be possible for me to cut the connectors off the fans, and then strip and solder the smaller one to the scythe fan?
Would this work? The only thing is that the color coding of the wires is not the same. On the ati fan is is blue, green, yellow and black. The scythe fan is black, red, yellow and orange.
Does anybody know which wires match up with which?

Sorry i cannot tell you anything about the Scythe fan you mentioned (added to the fact i know nothing about PWM fans but if airflow is a concern why don't you simply mount a 120mm fan on your HR-03 ? I did with mine with Scythe S-Flex E and it works flawlessly.
Try looking around the gallery section for ideas to mount a 120mm fan on HR-03 heatsinks.
If you really insist on a 92mM fan then i'm afraid someone else will have to answer you.
Best of luck !

To answer your mounting question, all kind of imaginative mounting systems were devised to attach a 120mm fan to a HR-03, the most common being a series of cable ties but you can also use fan brackets, elastic bands and have even seen a bolt through system using thin screws, bolts and metal washers.
For your other question, someone else will again have to answer but from what i could read, few people ever consider anything else than a nexus for 92mm fans and i didn't see too much 92mm PWM fans reviewed yet. The best you could do is review the latest 92mm fan roundup at

and see if one of them would be good enough.
As for the PMW wiring question, provided the power/amperage limit is not through the roof with the new fan, i see no problem in making a new wiring but then again someone more knowledgeable about PWM will have to confirm that.
