Those custom heatsinks are really nice. They cost almost twice as much as an Accelero S1 though.

How do I get in on the group buy and does he guarantee that they'll actually work?

Now it's official: Arctic Cooling list S1 as compatible with 8800GT and HD3870.
And they say that 8800GT don't need VRM heatsinks. :?:

Seems the 8800GT will have better stock cooling as default soon:

Larger fan and lower RPM but not cool enough if you ask. Still a move towards the right direction.

I think the group buy is over as the person who makes them is now over-tasked with how many he is making. They may not be "cheap", but that is a custom made part that someone is doing on their free time.

Guarantee? I'm sure'll hell guarantee his work and that they make contact with all the parts, but how much they work probably isn't. From what I've read, they do very well. There is a lot of aluminum there to absorb and bleed off heat, so I'm guessing they are much better than any of the other stick-on sinks that are commonly used.

Do anybody know if the Bequiet Polar Freezer fits an 8800GT, or maybe the 3870? I've already got the Polar Freezer on my defective 7900GT. If it fits I would likely add a 120mm Nexus fan, if possible.

RE: Thermalright V2

A list of compatibility can be found here. Yes the 8800GT is compatible, though the RAM sinks can be purchased separately for $5.99.

Can anybody point to a review of this cooler? It is all copper, takes only 1 extra slot (if i am understanding correctly):

From Thermalright's web site:
- 4 heapipe design in all copper structure
- Works with any 80mm x 15mm or 25mm width fan (not included)
- Tool-less easy installation without any hassle
- Compact in size and light in weight
- Vast compatibility supporting multiple types of video cards
- SLI/Crossfire compatible for serious gaming enthusiasts
- Supports SLI/Cross Fire and perfect for HTPC form factor taking up only one slot

I have an older Zalman 900 cooler that I think would be better than the stock cooler on my BFG 8800GT.

Anyone know if this older cooler will work well?

edit: found another post saying it works fine.

Some other peoples have had similar problems but mostly with asrock motherboards. They've flashed their 8800GT's to make them work with such mobo's.
