The GT is the important part of the title. Just like the "eXtreme" version of their "Ultra 120" heatsink, Thermalright took the old design and added more Heatpipes.

Here is the brief review, I have no idea it its better than the original, I would be surprised if its not, more revies will be out in the future and will include a head-head with the non-GT version.

i thought the GT was the same as the other HR03's, but with a changed mounting mechanism so it fits the 8800GT?

Only thing that's probably different is the amount of memory/mosfet heatsinks and the mounting parts. Heatsink/Heatpipes itself seems the same to me.

HR-03 Rev.A
fits many cards 8800GT, 8600 and below, GF 7 series, X1000 series etc...

It's nice of TR to respond to market demand so quickly, I just wish their video card heatsinks didn't cost $60 shipped which is 50% more expensive than what I paid for my Ninja.

I may be a little out of the loop on the HR-03 and it's derivatives, but early on I remember reading several reports of the RAM sinks falling off easily. Is this an issue that has been corrected, or was I just reading isolated cases? I'm inclined to think they must stay on now due to the popularity of this cooler.

they fit fine for me, just follow the instructions and clean the RAM chips well, even if they don't appear to have anything covering them, CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN.

Im about to buy this cooler for my HD3870 (don't have this card yet, not available here in Sweden yet). Ive been looking at the installation manual and according to this you have to remove the stock copper ramsinks as well.

Have anyone tried to keep the ramsinks on? Haven't found any pictures off this yet. Shouldn't it be possible to use the handy dremel to modifie the ramsinks?

you need to remove the top set and install the flat thermalright ones because the heatpipes come very close to the RAM chips, on mine they press up against the flat ramsinks.

Honestly, it was a bitch to install. I don't know why everyone claims it is so easy to install.. maybe I am a retard..

I followed the diagram.. and whoa.. mounting screws in the front.. and washers and X plate at the back was a nightmare for me.. on top of it.. the thumbscrews are freakin small! What happened to those big suckers on the HR 03 Rev A???

Small ass thumbscrews are smaller than your standard motherboard standoffs!

Also, one of the mosfet sinks don't really stick.. that mosfet is too small!

Anyway, I installed it with a crappy Antec Tricool 92mm on low.. fired up ATI Tool.. and saw the GPU temp shoot up to 75 celcius.. then realized the fan wasn't on lol.

I plugged in the fan,

I get 37 idle and 44 load.

Used to be 58 idle, up to 101 load when playing pro street at max.

Pretty massive improvement.

yea im getting the hr-03+ soon for my gts, it idles at 55c and gets up into the 90cs when its being stressed ,, hope it brinngs down my temps a bit

I have to say that it is amazing what little difference in temperature there is between idle and load with my HR-03 GT. What a remarkable piece of kit.

I echo your sentiments with the mosfet heatsink, the one nearest the bottom (not the long one) seemed to only just be holding on by one hair and some air, but it seems to be fine.

I've just posted my experiences of the HR03-GT in another thread, but to summarise, it is a great piece of kit I need to do more testing in different conditions, but it seems like it can at better the stock cooler when run passively and slaughter it with a fan attached.

newegg doesnt have the GT varient. Anyone know a good place in the states to get one? Just ordered myself an 8800gt 256mb for christmas and i doubt i will enjoy the stock heatsink noise.
