Around 80w Load. reference was slightly lower, and the gainward ver slightly higher.
Pretty good since performance wise it beats the 320mb 8800gts which uses around 20w more power at load and idle.
Its half as much power as an 8800GTX at idle, and 50w less at load. Considering performance is about par between the two, thats a pretty large reduction in power requirement.

Hmm. I find that hard to believe. Almost every review i've seen has shown the 8800gt at idle consuming substantially more power than the Radeon HD 3850, yet i've just installed my new 512MB 3850 and found that it idles 25 Watts higher than the Intel IGP.
I've got an overclocked quad-core system with a good DX10 vid card that idles at 93W.

The Intel northbridge become more hungry with PCIE enabled, and probably some other components start running when inserting a video card.Flandry wrote:....i've just installed my new 512MB 3850 and found that it idles 25 Watts higher than the Intel IGP....
