They make noise, too.

You can only care about idle power consumption so much when you need a nuclear reactor to power the cards on load.

Radeon HD Core(s) Idle Load Price
4870X2 2xRV770 <25W 250W <$499
4870 RV770 <10W 150W <$299
4850 RV770 <10W 120W <$249
4670 RV740 <10W 100W <$149
4650 RV740 <10W 80W <$129
4470 RV710 <10W 50W <$79
4450 RV710 <10W 30W <$59

I'm surprised with the wattage because the HD3XX0 range is also build on the 55nm procedure and supports powerplay as well :?

How come they can go that low?

but there is changes that its like nVidia's marketing 3-way Sli Ultra performance in Crysis: "For example, gamers with 3-way SLI can play Crysis at high resolutions such as 1920x1200 with all the advanced DirectX 10 effects such as motion blur, ambient occlusion, and soft shadows turned on. Crysis is not playable at high resolutions with all the special effects turned unless your PC has NVIDIA 3-way SLI technology."

Yeah, right, only detail setting Crysis was playable with 3-way sli with 3 Ultra's at that resolution was Low according Muropaketti tests. With low settings 3-way sli got 50 FPS. While in High it was 31,5 with Intel QX6850 at 3 Ghz.

And that ways without AA's and AF's... So marketeer's are good to put words that seem good put are not pure lie. I expect that Ati 10W idle consumption has similar trick like needing a specific motherboard or similar.
