Sapphire HD3470 Power Consumption?
Hi Guys,
Anyone know the idle/load power consumption of the ATi HD 3470 card, and if possible more specifically the passive Sapphire model?
I've been searching for a couple of days with no luck!
Thanks.

I think your 3470 numbers are a little misleading. You state them as 25w-25w. (min.-max.) I doubt this is true.
All the numbers posted anywhere I can find on the 3470, even on the link you provided, only shows the The official "peak power consumption" from the manufacturer which is 25W. Your post above makes it look like the card consumes 25W at idle as well as peak. I do not have proof that this is not true but I highly doubt it. From all the info on the net, until someone physically tests the power consumtion of the card, we can only state that the official "peak power consumption" from the manufacturer which is 25W. From what the 3450 and 3650 consumes at idle in test on the net, I'd "guess" the 3470 would also be in the 7 to 8 watt range at idle.
Now I'm sure actual power consumption of the 3470 will be higher than the 7W-10W of the 3450. How much more? I'm not sure, but I definitely would not write it off in favor of the 3450 from the current 3470 numbers posted on the net unless having the least amount of power consumption is your #1 priority.
The main benefit of the 3450 over the 3470 in my book is it's ability to be a low-profile card. The benefits of the 3470 over the 3450 in my book is the extra power to do better video post processing. Both having <25W peak power consumption make them both winners in my book.
Just my .02 cents.
