They make noise, too.

Cooling figures for new ASUS

Post by NyteOwl » Sun Mar 16, 2008 1:34 pm

Has anyone seen cooling and noise comparisons for the new fans that ASUS is using on a number of their cards?

I have the HD3650 that also uses the glaciator fan.
O.k. it can't be compared to an 8800GT, but just to give you an idea.
At stock speed (and at least on the HD3650 there is no possibility to control the fan speed) it makes a whining noise, but it is very effective in cooling the card.
I installed a Zalman fanmate and now the fan is running at 35% of the full speed and I can barely hear it.
I overclocked the card to 900Mhz core and 1000Mhz memory (725/800 stock) and at idle the temps are 35-39°C and under load around 50°C. I've only seen it reach 60-61°C while stress testing.
