They make noise, too.

Accelero S1 ram sinks on X1950pro AGP

Post by ame » Sun Jul 06, 2008 9:15 pm

I just about to go pickup a new S1 for my Sapphire x1950 pro agp. I've heard rumors that the RAM heat sinks dont stick  .
Anyone know how to make them stick if they fall off? should I get another ram cooling kit ($9) to replace the one that comes with the accelero?
I also want to help cool the PCIe to AGP chip on the back and the voltage regulator. any tips on this card with an aftermarket cooler would be appreciated

Supposedly you should apply some heat to the ramsinks and glue them to the card that way, then wait a while before placing the card back and loading it with something 3D.

As for cooling the VRM, good luck. I've had nothing but trouble with my card. End result: HR-03 tucked away, stock cooler wooshing happily.

make sure target zone is very clean, use surgical spirit or something pure.

warm up heatsink slightly with hairdrier or your hands

press and hold onto ram chip for 15-20 seconds
