ASUS 3650 in an AOpen EY-915

Post by sdc » Tue Jul 08, 2008 2:03 am

Dear all,

My main machine is currently an AOpen XC Cube EX-915, with a Celeron M 1.4 GHz @ 1.75 GHz and a passive ATI Radeon 9600 (AGP).

I am thinking about updating the graphics card, which is getting too slow to run anything recent - even though I am looking at games which are not too demanding. The main one I am interested it is Cycling Manager 2008, which is barely usable in 800x600 with all the options off.

First, I am wondering if it makes sense at all to upgrade the graphics card only, or will I be limited by the CPU and/or the bus?

If I upgrade the card, would someone have recommendations? I was thinking about a passive Asus HD 3650 which I can find for 80 € in Germany - but it looks much larger, and can reportedly reach 37W, which is twice as much as the Radeon 9600. Would it be a good idea in such a case?

Your comments are welcome, thanks in advance!
