Installing Accelero - thermal compoud issues

Post by canthearyou » Fri Aug 01, 2008 5:23 pm

I was wondering if the Accelero requires thermal compound. I may put one on my ASUS 9600GT. Also, if there is compound on the existing cooler, is it a challenge to remove the residue?

I haven't done this before.

the Accelero S1 comes with pre-applied MX-2 thermal paste.

when you get the cooler, just take off the stock cooler, clean the existing paste off the GPU, and put on the Accelero, don't clean the MX-2 off of it, that stuff is good.

All coolers require and come with thermal compound either pre-applied on the base or in a tube/packet for you to spread yourself. The Accelero's is excellent.

For cleaning a small surface like a GPU, I'd use high percentage rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs.
