hello all,
if this has been asked before sorry to bring it back up. its been a while since i was last here.

i have an antec solo case and am looking for help and advice on what graphics cards fit inside this case. as i remember long ago there being issues with some of nVidia's cards being too long to fit.

any suggestions would be appreciated. machine is mainly used for AutoCAD and 3dsMAX plus some dvd watching.

many thanks

Hi,
Are you concerned about clearance with a hard drive in one of the bays or just general clearance, without a hard drive ?

[Edit : 6800GT and 8600GT fit]

Ati cards up to and including 4870 fit, but as mentioned above you might lose a HD bay for the extra power wiring at the back of the card. There was a thread with some pics a few weeks ago: viewtopic.php?t=49479

Edit: No idea about nvidia cards though

I actually installed a BFGTech 8800GTX in a Solo for a client; even at its length, all that was required was a one centimeter "notch" on one side of the hard drive cage, cut with a hacksaw. Pretty much anything else should be okay.

My 9600gt fits comfortably in my Solo; the card clears the drive cages by an inch or so. The power connector sticks out past the card, but with careful management it should fit even with all the drive bays full, whether you use the suspension or the trays.

It's not convenient for me to take a measurement of the space, but hopefully that'll give you something to go off of.

Mine's the ECS 9600gt (eew, I know, but it was dirt cheap). However, it's a reference design, so it'd be the same size as most other 9600's. A few companies use their own designs, but the majority are reference cards. Besides, if you're looking at buying one, I'd strongly recommend getting an EVGA card, and I'm pretty sure they only do reference designs, so it'd be the same size as mine.

I suggest EVGA because they have a lifetime warranty which is still valid if you change the cooling system, and they cost about the same as other companies with much less impressive warranties.
