I've had my 8800GT since November of 2007 and I'm getting symptoms of upgrade fever. My question is this: What is the fastest video card that can fit in an Antec Solo and be cooled adequately with a Thermalright T-Rad2 with an 800RPM Scythe S-Flex fan? I'm looking at the 4870, but it seems like this thing won't fare too well in the summer heat.
A 9800GTX+ will not fit in a Solo without cutting a chunk out of the hard drive cage.Ch0z3n wrote:Unless you are playing games on high resolutions, you probably wont see much of a difference.
Length wise, I've never had a Solo but I had an old (read: longer) EVGA 9800GTX+ in a Sonata III because the power connectors were on the side instead of the back.
The "new" 1GB GTS 250 (I hate Nvidia's name games) uses a shorter 9.5" PCB (same as the 8800/9800GT) and would fit. I'm holding out for the Radeon 4750, which supposedly will be almost as fast as a 4850. Up to you to decide what would be enough of an improvement over an 8800GT to justify spending money.
