Heya folks,

Being a bit old I can't find the panel type of my Philips Brilliance 200P3 : http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/new ... cd-monitor

Its getting a bit old and tired, and its obviously not a TN panel. I don't know if its a PVA or IPS. Having tried TN, I dislike the small vertical viewing angles for desktop use.

I heard PVA is in-between and IPS is the best regarding viewing angles. Knowing what type my current old beast is should give me an idea what I need for a nice upgrade..

Any ideas?

Try this web site: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/

That is where I got the info on my NEC LCD 2070NX (Super IPS) before I bought it. Lotsa info, great site.

FWIW, all of the 200p4, 200p6, etc listed on that web site have S-IPS panels, so it is kind of likely that yours does too.

Thanks, indeed it probably is S-IPS.. Might explain why I like it so much, colours really stay exactly the same in my range of head movements typically done behind the desk.

This will make upgrading expensive then, must be S-IPS :D

Niels,

I bought my NEC from http://www.tech4less.com, here in the US. It was an open-box item, but was in literally new condition, all accessories, all warranty cards, in factory box (with matching serial number on box), etc. I registered it with NEC and got the full 3 year warranty too. It cost a lot less than buying a new one, and it even smelled new. Tech 4 less does ship internationally.

Also, if you can find a NEC 2070NX (NOT the 2070 NX-2 or the WNX), I can vouch for how good a monitor it is. It uses a 20.1" LG-Philips S-IPS panel, probably the same one that is in your Philips. Knowledge gives you a wider range of choices, and the information on the TFT site, in my first post, should help with your shopping.

Seek, and you shall find what you are looking for, at a price you can afford.

HP LP2475w (new LG H-IPS panel) is what I have now, coming from a NEC 20WMGX2, and I can honestly say after searching for a quality display to match or beat the NEC for a reasonable price, I have found one. Got it from Amazon for $620, right now it's $580 w/free shipping...

...I would get it from Amazon itself since they don't charge for restocking, and pay for return shipping if you want to exchange it.
