Hi,

As the subject says: what would be your decent (better) alternative to ASUS EN9600GT SILENT card?

Something newish, fanless, dual DVI... no games...

Thanks

By no games you mean that you`re not interested in any games bundled with the card?

Powercolor is planning a passive 5750 though it will be hard to find like all 5xxx cards.

You could also use an accelero on a card of your choice. Unfortunately, mounting an accelero on the 57xx series cards can be a bit complicated because of the tall dual dvi connector, although some non reference designs come without it.

I don't know about the ASUS card, but my ECS silent 9600GT with Accelero pre-mounted has been excellent.

I mean no games that require top-knock cards. I still need decent graphic.

It's just that this particular card seems to be out of stock almost everywhere which tells me it's not being made anymore, and I feel bit dumb about buying "old" stuff.

Other than that - would GT9600 still be a decent chipset?

Thanks

Well, the 9600gt can play a wide range of games at good settings but it only takes one game (in my case it was borderlands) to make you want to upgrade.

If the 5750 wasn`t so overpriced at the moment I would say go for it instead.

You could also look at the passive 4850 by gigabyte, If you don`t mind the extra power consumption over the 9600.

I found those two to add:

- GIGABYTE GV-N96TSL-1GI GeForce 9600 GT
- GIGABYTE GV-N98TSL-1GI GeForce 9800 GT

Anyone using them?

Thanks
