Hey, cool.

By the way, how would it stack up against a 3850? As I understand it, it's *slightly* better, but I'm not sure. Anyone who is more adept at gpu comparing here? : P
No pcie-power is good, and a smaller heatsink/different heatsink design than my current card would be nice too, since i can't use tall RAM at the moment... not that I have too, heh.

In the end, the cost will be the biggest factor for me, I'd say.

Damn! I just bought a 4670 this week. But as it hasn't arrived yet, I wonder if I should cancel it and go for the 5670 instead. I've no idea how much they're going to cost over here yet, though if $99 dollars is the alleged price, then that will equal just over £60.

It looks we have to wait few weeks untill cards arrive. Some stores in EU listed cards at about 80€.

I'm in the process of trying to cancel the 4670 order. At roughly £72 the 5670 should still be pretty decent value for money, though if a recent article at Fudzilla is anything to go by, pricing still seems slightly up in the air. So it's anybodys guess at this point I think.

If i were you, i'll cancel the order, too. Radeon 5670 is more powerful in accord with some unofficial preview, and maybe more power friendly.

I want to change my 3850 with a 5670. If it is 10-20% more powerfull, is ok for me.

I hope there will be a passive version. There is a 5750 passive, should not be difficult to do with the minor version.
Alternatively, the Powercolor 5750 "GO GREEN" could be an interesting purchase.

The 4670 should be as powerful, if not slightly better than a 3850. The 5670 should smoke it (though I haven't looked at any of this release stuff yet).

Do iiiiiittttt.

All in all, not too bad for a reference card. Though it could be a while until passive versions turn up looking at those temps. At this point I'm probably going to opt for the Sapphire version with an Arctic Cooling fan. Slightly dissapointed with it only having 20 texture units and 8 ROPS, as previous reports had indicated them to have 40 and 16 respectively. But it's better than the card I was going to buy, so it's ultimately a win.

I guess for the games I play I'll be looking at maxing out the resolution to 1920x1080 and keeping settings low to medium with little to no AA, or going for the lower resolution with better settings and AA at 4x.

WAIT!!

According to these results, a 3870 is just the same thing as a 5670. I am a guru of stats on the 3870 as I owned one and read every article on it possible in order to figure out if a 5770 would be worth it power wise.

According to this, a 5670 is a bit power HUNGRY compared to a 5750. It is really similar, yet the 5750 kicks it in the teeth for gaming at HD res's. one thing for sure is the 5670 is much cheaper which is nice.

I might be wrong, but then if I am it is because this review is overshooting the power draw. it shows 60's wattage. that is... er.. close to a 5750 if not the same. My 5770 draws no more than 90 watts in any review I have seen.

shrug? need MikeC.......

I think they are wrong, i will wait x-bit lab or any better review about power consumption.

From the few reviews I've read so far, the one constant opinion seems to be that the price is going to have to be lowered to make the 5670 a worthy proposition for many potential buyers, as there's really not enough of a cost margin between it and the 5750, which will give superior results for a mere £20 or $30+ dollars more. That being the case, I'm going to play the waiting game for a few weeks and see what happens. Any money saved and pleasantly farting away in my back pocket is better than stumping up full price at release.

Doesn't seem that much improved on the 4670.
Will wait a few months for the inevitable massive price drops before committing :)

At this price point, the PowerColor Go green 5750 is an interesting beast. Passive, no power connector, power consumption 20% lower than the default one. Like you guys, i will wait to see what happen

54 watts???

at 54 watts in the peak chart, this is REALLY close to the 5750. the 5750 can play all games at 1920x1200, just no crazy 16AF. just put on 2AF, the difference isnt noticable. I wish they would do reviews with 2x aa and 2x af as for a motion picture, the difference is not noticable at 1920x1200. but they dont so whatever

And... i Just checked out Canucks, theirs is the best review, comparing dx9, 10, 11 and the 5750. really, if you dont include the 5750 in your test you are kinda lame.

It looks like not a bad card. however, a 4770 beats it often. Of course a 4770 cannot do dx11 and the little card does it well. THis means if you get a 5670 you would be not as fast at normal games as a 4770 but you would be doing Tesselation which is awesome....

this means: buy a 5650 for your home theatre machine, doesnt exist yet, and buy a 5750 as youd want to go faster than previous generation.... no?

4770 looks like it was an awesome card. I bet you could get one on ebay for cheap.

5670 review at http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=3720

I agree the 5750 looks better for gaming but the 5670 can be had in single slot config for cramped systems.

Certainly depends on the resolution you game at as well--if you're on an old 19" 1280x1024 it looks plenty playable. And good luck finding that Green 5750.

I wonder if drivers for PowerPlay are working with those first cards. Idle power in many reviews is higher as with GT240 and lower than 4670.
Acording to Xbits 4670 has bit lower idle running compared to GT240.

I guess time to sit back, drink tea and wait one month before making judgement. I hope SPCR will test a retail sample for 5670 series.

This chip is only exciting for Apple and other OEMs will love these for the $50 or so they will pay for them. It is actually lower on the performance spectrum than the 4670 was when it was launched. It is more like the 3650/2600/etc. It deserves 64-bit memory bus. Even the 5770 is pretty low end, but maybe it will be able to play some DX11 content. Why not just stick the faster GDDR5 on the 4770 and fix the power regulation?

Lower on the spectrum? Its 30-35% faster than the 4670 and its only a generation newer. Hard to say any of nVidia's offerings come close to that (8800GT vs. 9800GT, 9600GT vs. 240GT). I wished the 5670 had performance close to the 4770, but alas ATI choked the GPU overly so that it would fall into their TDP requirements. I will be replacing one of my HD 4670s with the 5670 when $100 blow money becomes available. And for $150 bucks, you couldn't buy near the performance of the 5770 at this time last year.

it's good knowing the 5770 is low end being that it is smooth playing all games out at 1920x1200 with medium to max settings. yes. it's so low end.
