They make noise, too.

5570 - fanless (passive) and low profile

Post by compet_pl » Thu Apr 22, 2010 2:05 pm

Hi!

I'm looking for the passive (fanless) low profile 5570 video card. I can’t find any ready product. All have 1-slot cooler with small fan.

There is a possibility for fanless operation for sure. Do you have any experience with that?
Can you suggest any kind of aftermarket heatsink? I can use 2-slot or 3-slot version.

Thanks a lot in advance and best regards

You should look around on these forums. There is a whole thread on the fanless version of this card and its relatives.

Thanks for the info. I know it. Asus has it too (http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=N ... templete=2), but... They are not low profile card.

I have small HTPC case (Antec Micro Fusion 350). As I wrote before, I can use LOW PROFILE ONLY.

Thanks for your info. I think there are several threads about 5750 fanless, but not 5570. The only places I found any discussion about are as foolowing:

Or... maybe I'm wrong. Would you be so kind and help me with looking for it?

Honestly, I'd be really surprised to see a 5570 that's both passive and low profile. Both passive 5570 designs I've seen so far use a very chunky full height heatsink, and even some of 5450 low profile designs use a really big cooler. I guess you could mod a fanned low profile 5570 - maybe you could try nicking the cooler off a 5450. Or maybe a chipset heatsink would do the trick - I wouldn't want to game with it, but it might be enough for HTPC duty.

Good luck!

HIS HD 5570 Silence - first low profile & fanless!!!

Post by compet_pl » Wed May 26, 2010 12:49 pm

There is!!! I found the first low profile and fanless 5570.
:D

HIS HD 5570 Silence
http://www.hisdigital.com/un/product2-547.shtml
They have 2 versions: with 1600 and 1334 memory clock.

Looks like the heatsink is one-slot and it's not so big - almost like in the 5450 (I expected 2-slot heatsink). Is it enough? What about temperatures?

Maybe somebody has any experience with this card already?
