Powercolor 5670 consumption
What about the Powercolor model?
http://www.powercolor.com/global/produc ... asp?id=220
Is it any worse or better than other 5670 models in terms of power consumption?
I see that it hasn't the 6pin power connector, will the mother board (compared to my 3850 which has the atx 6pin connector) be hotter if all the power is drawn from the pci-ex slot and not from the 6pin molex?
I may expect a 25-30% improvement in terms of fps at 1680x1050, what about the power consumption (consider that my 3850 256mb is downvolted at 1,134v in 3d and 1,05 in 2d@150/284) ?

I mean nobody can answer. Surely it should go a bit faster than lots of sisters.

Definitely no.

I mean no one can answer such an hypotethical question: regardless of your 3850, under Furmark you'd get something 65-70W, while heavily gaming you'd get 50-60W.
However, if I may tell, any good 5750 should be a very much better choice, if you can afford it: the PowerColor 5750 Go Green will be a near perfect shot, but it's very rare and probably too much costly.
Ciao,
Luca
I wouldn't want to spend more because I can play anything at 1680x1050 with my 3850, but it's clear that in some cases I need another little bit of juice.
I can sell my 3850 and spend something like 20/25eur, while a 5750 would cost more.
Oh, I forgot to say that my 3850 has 256mb of ram on board, and that's the main handicap.

I was referring to efficiency: the 5750 should be more efficient than the HD5670 PCS+ at load, and may offer more horsepower than a 4850, about +33% over the 5670. The drawback is a generally higher idle power consumption (and the PowerColor doesn't seem the most efficient HD5670 around).
Now, in Italy the HD5670 PCS+ starts from 70-80 euros, while various HD5750 (XFX, Sapphire, PowerColor) starts from 90-100 euros, so I'm confident you've done your homework.
Regards,
Luca

C'mon we are off topic a bit.
Btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3iAqxNpQ-A
Can we now discuss Powercolor 5670 card?

Re: Powercolor 5670 consumption
Luckily there won't be any other thread hijacks in the future...
Back on topic, one of the reason could be (and Ati tray tools developer confirmed me that there are some incompatibilities between ATT and hd5xxx regarding FAN table and voltages) Ati Tray Tools using 1.1v even in 2d mode, because the total power consumption without ATT is some 6w lower than with ATT enabled and in 2d mode (and supposed to run at 0.900v).
The problems haven't been fixed yet as today.
