Best super 2080 with quiet features but not stupid high temp

Post by silenceorgtfo » Tue Dec 10, 2019 7:47 pm

According to this:

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=70449

"Currently, the Asus STRIX OC with quiet BIOS setting is the quietest card (and hottest) of the lot. "

However, how reliable is that for the components?

I don't mind it that much when im gaming as I use headphones, however, if im browsing the internet etc, or making music, I want as little noise as possible, so I was wondering which is the best one considering that.

So basically, I want as quiet idle as possible noise, but with sane temperature. On load is not that important.

Thoughts on this one?

The ones in the shop im going to buy the stuff have the OC edition so im not sure if it will be noisier, and i see those two... what are the diferences?????

Can you help me finding the best card in here?

Edit ok I realize this link is about the evo OC one:

So I may buy that one. Im worried the trio one is too long and doesnt fit and has same idle noise anyway

Go with the Asus Strix and move the slider before you install it, it will be very quiet. The fans don't turn on browsing, i mostly play WOW Classic now a days, and barely starts and stops, never even passes 57C, on light load its very quiet, and mine runs hotter than the 2080 super.

I cannot afford buying a Ti. What do you think of this one?

noise wise seems decent:

at 31 db in idle inside the fractal i doubt i can hear it at all.

I didn't suggest you buy the Ti, i simply suggested to with Asus with the SUPER, since you were mentioning it in your original post. Its the same cooler as my Ti, but Super should be a little easier to cool, so its very likely its a quiet card.

TechPowerUp ASUS GeForce RTX 2080 Super STRIX OC Review according to the review is the quieter card,
My recommendation is to use the quiet BIOS all the time as it makes the card extremely quiet even when fully loaded. Actually, in that mode, the ASUS STRIX is the quietest RTX 2080 Super we ever testing, sharing the throne with the Palit RTX 2080 Super in quiet mode. The performance difference for the quiet BIOS is less than 1%—definitely worth it.
Now if you want a quiet card that runs super cool.... that doesn't exit, most of us here accept running higher temps, as a fair trade, for quieter operation, thats exactly what asus gives us with the dual vbios setup, you can still run a custom fan curve if you wish a different balance of noise / cooling. Btw the MSI on the same page doesn't look bad either, 32db vs 31 db of the asus seems very close, and the temperatures are also close, either of the two seems fine, you can always go with MSI Afterburner and do a custom card if you feel the card is running too hot.
