Fanless Ati 9800pro
Can I run a 9800pro fanless? I was going to unplug the fan to quiet this thing down
I have an Evercool 120mm running at 6 volts ( can be turned up) pointing at the video card and the HSF coming in from the side panel of my case.

Please look at pix on my site. Yes they are old BUT the case,MB, and HSF are the same. This way you can see what I mean.[/url]

Look, I know you want to save money... But I wouldn't. I just wouldn't. I would still think there would be a VERY good chance of frying the board, considering how small the heatsink is.
If you absolutely are set on not buying an aftermarket cooler, check on some of the overclocker sites. Some people have taken old CPU hs/fan combos and glued them onto the GPU of their video card.
But I STRONGLY suggest blowing $30 on a new cooler. It's made to do the job properly, it's safer, and you've been willing to spend $30 on rounded cables (according to your site), so why not spend an equal amount of money to quiet down your $350 video card?

Definetely watch those temps if you are going without a fan. I run my 9600XT without a fan, and the zalman sink and the temps can definetly get up there. I have seen up to 50C on warm days.
Not a problem but the 9800pro puts out a lot more heat than the 9600XT I would suggest a 5V L1A mounted on the side of the zalman cooler.
