Hi All,
I have a Shuttle SN41G, which I've been slowly making quieter - changed the ICE fan, put a Zalman heatsink on the Northbridge, changed the fan on my Radeon 5600 Pro and bought a newer, quieter SilentX PSU.
While the newer PSU is a vast improvement on the older one, and is really quiet when the PC is idling it still makes a significant noise when the video card requires more power. I'm wondering if anyone here has any suggestions for making this PSU even quieter under these conditions?

I've seen one or two people cutting the sides out of these things, and various suggestions about replacing the fans: this is really what I'm interested to know more about: do these things work?
TIA

That's what I did with my SN45G. The PCB was facing outwards so I had to flip the PSU around and cut an 80mm hole in the side. I had it blowing air into the case which then went right through the CPU fan. Temps were fine.
However, with an 80mm fan there you will have to rotate your hard drive 90 deg. To do this I cut out the lowest 3.5" bay and zip-tied four rubber bands to the matching holes in the bay above. Then clipped these to the hard drive. I'll try to get some pics.
You could also use a 2.5" harddrive.
