New Apple iMacs released

Post by Erssa » Wed Aug 08, 2007 8:38 am

http://www.apple.com/imac/

I just have to say, that they are simply the most beatiful computers ever to hit the market. Even the new Apple keyboard looks awesome (and silent).

They are also cheaper then the former imacs. "Too bad" pc hardware is also ridiculously cheap atm, so the new iMac won't be as good a bargain as the former one was, when it was introduced.

I just love this picture :D

It's kind of funny actually. People here have absolutely beautiful cable management inside their cases, where it can't be seen and hardly has any practical effect. Yet on the outside, most people have cable management as seen in the picture.

I'm planning on getting one of these in mid-August. There's a good back to school deal that gives you a free ipod nano.

Hello,

Very nice indeed -- though in reality, there will be (at least) one more cord out of the back of the iMac; the network cable (or modem)...

Except, in Apple's ideal world, everyone's using Airport wireless =).

No height adjustability. :(

The keyboard looks interesting. Do they sell those separately?

Hello,

And the screen is glossy-black -- yuk. If it was matte, I'd love it, but glossy is lousy.

The glare off the glass is insane. There's no way I could sit at one of those for a whole day. I don't even want to think about what that glare does to color correction.

I'm a mac fanboy for the most part, but these are just lousy.

Excellent. Are you pleased with yours? Is there a way to use the command key as a windows key?

Yes. It's almost like i'm using a notebook instead of a pc. The keys are very quiet (compared to conventional keyboards). It's very sturdy despite being very thin. It matches my monitor and my lian li v1000 perfectly, and it takes up very little space, so now I can use my desk for others things.

Me too :D

PS. Looking at that pic the way Apple intended to, they should stop selling the Mac Pros :)

Given how well the older imacs fared in terms of noise (http://www.silentpcreview.com/article594-page1.html), I'd be very curious to know how the new ones compare...
