Any ideas or suggestions to lower water cooling pump noise levels? I personally own a Swiftech MCP600 and I find it loud side.

I've heard that if you mount the MCP600 with the inlet pointing up minimizes bearing noises. If you're not suspending it yet that would also be a good thing to do.

So I should basically do both?
Mount the pump so the inlet points upwards where the outlet should be pointing sideways.
Suspend the pump.

Yeah but how would I suspend it? I have an Antec 3700AMB case and the bump right now sits at the bottom of my case having very little room to suspend it. I wouldn't know how to set it up so that it can be suspended at the bottom of my case....
Any suggestions?

I don't have that pump (L30 for me) but I simple set mine on a block of foam (reservoir also on a block of foam) and made sure that the tubing doesn't touch anything......

works perfectly...
have to touch the case every once and a while to feel vibration to make sure pump is running...

1. Here's one way to suspend it. I used my old bike intertube and zip ties. Nothing to look at but silent.

2. Sell the swiftech MCP600 and get a ehiem.

Keep the Swiftech, it offers much better flow than a Ehiem, just takes a bit more work to quiet it down.

In the polyurathane section buy some 3/8" or 1/2" thinck Sorbothane and mount the pump on that. I've seen several posts here saying that is better than foam for deadening vibrations.

Yes I do have some Sorbathane. Just wondering now if I should have the inlet pointing upwards and the outlet pointing sideways... is it really effective?..

I use an Eheim 1048 pump and I used to find that PVC tubing would transmit vibrations (hum) from the pump to any point where the tube would touch the case and the case would then amplify the noise. I switched to silicone tubing to see if it would help and it did. Now I can't hear the pump at all.

I sit my pump on a big block of sorbothane 80 durometer with adhesive backing. Works great also has the added effect of keeping tte pump in one place. Better than screws.

i hard-bolted my pump (eheim 1048) to the wall of an external box made of 12mm MDF. of course the box is vibrating now but since it's wood it doesn't amplify the hum as my slk3700bqe used to.

Chylld, how do you have your rad mounted in that BQE? Got any pics?

but the way i did it was to measure out exactly how much i needed to move it "in" by, and drill new mounting holes in the bix's shroud so that when affixed to the fan (which in turn is affixed to the chassis) it doesn't stick out anymore and allows the side panel to be closed.

i'll get a pic...

a bit hard to see from the crappy photo, but the holes to the left of the original holes are the ones that i made and used to mount the bix with. they were drilled with a high-quality 4mm drill bit.

i got this bix second hand (third hand, actually) so it's pretty mangled (as you can see from the brutally enlarged lower original holes) but it did its job and shall not be retired in shame.

As a note, I sent an inquiry to Swiftech regarding pump orientation. They responded saying that mounting the pump with the inlet facing upwards will not pose any performance or durability problems.
