If you own a Reserator write here! (Temp/CPU/GPU)

Post by akaidiot » Thu Sep 02, 2004 7:32 pm

I've read countless reviews and all say pretty much the same: It's up to par with great aircooling solutions and dead silent. So I've got one ordered! But I've heard different feedback from user. So here is your chance to either prove the neysayers wrong or the other way around! Just enter the info here below. If you arent cooling the GPU with the reserator you don't have write the lower part..

Here is an example(I don't have a reserator, made up data..):

CPU: A64 3000+
CPU block(now/before): Zalman ZM-WB2/SLK-947
CPU speed/volt: 2000/1.5
CPU temp(idle/load-before): 38/45-38/41
Case temp(idle/load): 24(doesn't change)
Ambient temp: 20
Motherboard: Asus A7N8X-X :P

Stressprogram(s): Prime95&3dmark03/Doom3/etc..

GPU card: Sapphire X800XT
GPU block: Zalman ZM-GWB1
GPU speed(core/mem): 520/560(stock)
GPU temp(idle/load): 60/80

Other: (for example: Going to buy a ZM-GWB1)

If you have a suggestion for another entry let me know!

EDIT: Added suggested entries

Ambient temperature

I've got myself a Reserator but haven't had the time to install it yet. I've also got hold of a larger pump that should fit inside it. When I get a few days spare I'll do a comparison between the two setups and post back here.

perhaps mb brand, and reported temps with stock hsfs (or at least whatever one was using before)? reported temps are already irrelevant enough as it is, knowing this would give something else to go by at least

Although I generally don't like these "post your temps" threads, I'll bite for this one. (I think there's always too many variables to be able to draw any real conclusions from these listings)

CPU: XP-M 2500 Barton
CPU block: Zalman ZM-WB2
CPU speed/volt: 1833/1.30
CPU temp(idle/load): 38 (always loaded with F@H, dunno what idle would be)
Case temp(idle/load): 32 (a little warm, but I don't run case fans)

GPU card: Sapphire 9500 non-Pro, softmodded to 9800Pro
GPU block: Zalman ZM-GWB1
GPU speed(core/mem): 390/315 (OC'd from 250/275)
GPU temp(idle/load): Don't know, don't care. If it's stable, its fine.

One thing that should be noted is that my Reserator is not fully stock. It's been modded with dual Sicca Micro pumps in series, so the flow rate is way beyond what a stock Reserator would be. (but it's just as quiet. )

I sent the stock pump to acaurora to replace his famously clanging unit.

CPU: XP 2600 (256cache) running at 12@[email protected]
CPU block: Zalman ZM-WB2
CPU speed/volt: 2406/1.8
CPU temp(idle/load): 37/52
Case temp(idle/load): 26/30
Ambient Temp 20C
GPU card: FX5200

I love this reserator......

Sorry I missed your question Dryfire.

I found mine on Ebay. They seem to be pretty rare in the WC'ing world. Aquarium/Pond websites will carry them. They my do direct sales, I haven't checked. They're a UK based company, so shipping a $10 pond pump across the pond may be more expensive than it's worth.

I'm not even sure they're the ideal pump to swap in the Res1, but they did meet my criteria:

Small enough
More powerful than the stock Eheim (more than double the head, each)
Quiet (about the same as stock, even with 2 of them)
Cheap

CPU: PowerPC G4
CPU block: Zalman ZM-WB2/SLK-947
CPU speed: 1.25Ghz
CPU temp(idle/load): 37/46
GPU card: Radeon 9800pro
GPU block: Zalman ZM-GWB1
GPU speed(core/mem): Stock
GPU temp(idle/load): Dunno, seems stable enough.

CPU: XP 2800 Barton
CPU block: Zalman ZM-WB2
CPU speed/volt: 1662Mhz 1.475V
CPU temp(idle/load): 31C / 42C
Case temp(idle/load): 27C

GPU card: GeForceFX 5900 ULtra
GPU block: Zalman ZM-GWB1
GPU speed(core/mem): stock
GPU temp(idle/load): 30C / 67C

The load temps are after 1.5 hours of running UT2004 bot-match.

I think I like this thing :D

nutball,
Why are you underclocking your CPU ?, I didn't think it was necessary with the Reserator. And btw, 18C ambient ?, where do you live, in Siberia ?.

I've only just installed the Reserator, so the CPU is still configured as it was beforehand. I'll probably revert to stock frequency and voltage.

The UK. It's cold here this morning!

Are they both externally installed? You wouldn't have to have pictures of that marvelous setup?

Ah, nice one Rusty! I'd bought myself a larger Eheim pump (Eheim 600) to replace the internal unit, but just running it in a sink full of water it's obvious it's going to be louder than the stock unit (the 300).

Now I know to Google for "Sicce Micra", not "Sicca Micro" I've found these little beauties.

How easy is it to mount the two in series?

Unfortunately, not as easy as you'd hope.

The micra's are just like the little Eheim units: Their intake is through a grilled opening, not a nice neat tubing intake like it is on their larger cousins. (You can see the grill area that I cut away on the "top" pump)

I used epoxy to seal all the openings in the grill, then drilled a hole to attach an adaptor for the top pump to mount to. (my pumps happened to come with a little bag of goodies, including a 3/8" to 1/2" adaptor that worked perfectly for this).

It wasn't fun, but at least it was messy.

The wiring wasn't fun either: had to do some creative wiring to get 6 wires to fit down a hole that was only sized for three. The guys at UL would not be impressed....

Hello,

I have a Reserator 1, and this cools my AMD 2800+ (Barton) and my Ati 9600xt. Actually I do not have correct temperature datas, because I have an Asus A78NX-X motherboard....
Do you think my Reserator could handle my system if I added a 350Watt water cooled PSU? Or is it going to be too much for it?

Wow, I love that power supply! Problem is, I can't read any of the description, even in english mode. Can't tell what the hookup size is. I'd like to use 1/2" though the entire system.

Only other water cooled power supply I've found is this one:
http://www.aquacomputer.de/e_content/e_netzteile.htm
but the high powered unit only runs on 230V.

Anyone else know of water cooled power supplies??
