what type of material is best to mount pump?

Post by Katharsis » Tue Apr 26, 2005 7:42 pm

I have an Eheim 1250 on the bottom of my case and it vibrates the case. Right now its bolted to the floor through rubber grommets with a foam block compressed under it. I'm thinking about getting some vibration mounts like what chylld used in this post:

Looking at mcmaster's site on pages 1218, 1219, and 1220 they have them in rubber, neoprene, silicone, and polyurethane. What would be the best material to use?

I have the 9378K23 and they seem to work fine (I have a 1046 pump). I got the ones with a female thread on one end and a male on one end that way I could put a screw through the bottom of the case into the mount so it wouldnt stick out of the case very far. The reason I didnt get larger mounts was because I thought that the higher load rating they had might mean that they are more 'stiff' also.
