yes crazy expensive im gathering.
i always thought this would happen. just increase the mass and size of the heat releasing core to an enormous size like this and it would do SLI with nHot4 mobo or whatever.

Anodized in gold? What is the point? Copper is a better conductor of heat.

I think gold is just a color in this case, it's probably still aluminium.

Gold doesn't corrode. The gold layer isn't thick enough to have a serious effect on thermal performance. This is something Zalman has done on previous WB's too.

how big is it? There's nothing to give it a sense of scale in that picture.

The block is probably made of copper, the radiator is probably aluminum. By coating the block with gold there will be no galvanism. Koolance has done the same thing with their systems since the beginning.
A copper radiator that size, or the size of the Reserator 1 would be cost prohibitive. They would be simply too expensive and people wouln't buy them.

copper has gone up a whole lot in price in the past few years.
it probably is aluminum.
the gold coating on the bottom of a heatsink is a good idea as any amount of oxidation insulates metal.

It is aluminum.
http://www.matbe.com/actualites/13485/c ... serator-2/
Translation:
"We had been able to see it in slides at the time of CeBIT without being able to take photographs of them but at the time of this Computex, Reserator 2 is posted finally publicly. The principle changes here compared to Reserator 1 since Reserator 2 is smaller and takes a rectangular form. Moreover, water circulates through a radiator while in the first version, the dissipation of heat being done via natural convection. The inputs/outputs are at the back while with before there is right to an indicator of flow. The surface of dissipation is of 1,5 m² while the weight rises with 7 kilos in spite of the exclusive recourse to aluminium. Dimensions of this Reserator 2 are of 76x436x369 millimetres and it can accomodate 1,5 liters of liquid. The pump is always integrated and has a flow of 300 liters per hour. This Reserator 2 will be delivered out of standard with a waterblock CPU and a waterblock GPU. A waterblock for northbridge will be available in option, as well as the squanderers for memory. The availability should be effective in July."
This might a darn good product much better than the R1. 300 l/hr translates to 1.33 gal / minute.

plus you would need a forklift to move it
the new gear looks pretty good, but I haven't seen a zalman watercooled PSU to go with it yet
