Do stamped grilles impede fanless airflow?

Post by flarkit » Mon Jun 06, 2005 10:57 pm

Hi

I have two 80mm front intake fan spots which I've removed the fans from and have a stock filter there. The idea is to have a place for air to enter the case quietly, drawn in by 2 exhaust fans.

Should I snip out the grilles of the intake spots? The grilles have a 'circular slots' design, as opposed to the honeycomb or 'tiny squares' type.

Yes they do and you should snip away the grilles, if possible. It would probably improve the general airflow and your exhaust fans would have to work less for the same airflow.
