Combo of new and old components

Post by NanPatterson » Thu Jul 21, 2005 1:55 pm

Alright, think I got it all together:

Ordered:
P180
S12-500
2gb Corsair XMS Pro
Zalman VF700-Cu
ATX12V extention
Arctic Silver 5

Already have from previous system:
Asus K8V SE Deluxe
AMD64 3200+
Plextor 12x DVD (PATA)
2 x WD120 Raid 0 (SATA)
BFG 6800GT
Cooler Master Hyper 6 (REALLY need to replace the included 80mm fan)

If you have a part in mind I may be missing let me know. If you have a recommendation for the replacement 80mm fan on Hyper 6 let me know.

Thanks all!

I can efficiently cool sempron 3100+ with Cooler Master Hyper 6 ONLY with PSU nexus 4090 single 120mm fan (and 120mm intake fan @5V at the bottom of the case, near drive cage in SLK3000B).

I can recommend that PSU. It has temp controlled FAN so if your CPU heats up, PSU fan speeds up. When idle/internet/word fan stays at its lowest speed, when gaming - it speeds up a little. It is quiet. Exhaust air tems stays at max 45'C.

That PSU works great with CM Hyper 6 heatsink. I love this heatsink. But you have to make cardbord duct between heatsink and PSU - it is way more effective that way. Don't worry - A4/letter sheet of paper, some duct tape and 5 mins work. I can post some photo if you want (but it could take me some time :D ).

Thanks for the reply. I won't be able to make a duct to the psu since it is in the bottom chamber but I probably could make one to the top mounted fan or rear fan. I will have to play with that and see what happens.

Thats the one I was looking at today. Looks like that will be the new fan on my Hyper 6.

Thanks

oops. My mistake. I allways had cases with the psu at the top, so I forgot that there are other desings in the world :D

...That nexus fan - AFAIR this is the fan that is in my psu, the orange one. It is very quiet indeed. Go for it.

Went to my local Fry's today in Ga and they had a P180 on display so I got to play with it. Man o man I cannot wait until this thing arrives. I took a couple of friends with me and showed it to them, now they are thinking about getting one, lol.
