New mATX PC Core2Duo

Post by dan17 » Wed Nov 29, 2006 9:40 pm

Hey I've been browsing SPCR for a long time now but have never really explored the forums so I thought it would be a good time as any to try it

I'm currently going and upgrading my PC since my Athlon XP 2800+ is getting a little dated

Here are the components that I need to get for my mATX pc :
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz
Asus P5L-MX i945G S775 mATX
Corsair PC2-4200 Value DDR2
Antec NSK2400
Seagate 7200.10 320GB 16MB SATA2

Here's my problem at the moment....I recently purchased a lcd monitor and I'd prefer to use a dvi cable....but I wont be purchasing a pci-e video card till next year. Are there any mATX motherboards that support it out of the box? If there isnt I'm fine with my VGA cable

I'm on a bit of a budget so thats why the motherboard and ram are lower models. And the hd is on sale so thats why i got a bigger one (20 bucks extra for another 70GB :D )

But other than that stuff....let me know how it looks. I wish i could see a comparison of the XP 2800+ and the core 2 duo

Thanks you guys,
Dan

Try this one out. There may also be some G965 boards out now as well.

This one does not have DVI but is the newer chipset with better integrated graphics.

Thanks for the recommendation autoboy...i'll check it out

Haha my processor is so old....not even actually listed....but the 2800+ 64 bit is close enough. That puts it to shame

Thanks for the replies you guys,
Dan

Any reason you picked the motherboard you did? When I was figuring out my C2D build, I had settled on the Intel DG965SSCK.

Well I've always gone with ASUS for motherboards and have never had problems. I ended up switching to the Asus P5B-VM G965 mATX board since its using the newer chipset....so I can possibly have an upgrade path. I've looked at the intels but most that I see are pretty expensive.
