Proposed New System, Please tell me what you think.

Post by Bobendren » Thu Oct 04, 2007 8:13 am

Hi all,

I want to put together a new pc with the following components:

*Abit IP35 (not the E version) - the double boot issue has been fixed. Fan control from bios and speedfan, i'll see which works the best.

*Intel E6750 - only slightly more expensive than E6550 and it'll allow me to run the chipset and ram at lower speeds when overclocking.

*2 x 1GB DDR2-800 Generic Ram - bought it already at a very good price.

*Sapphire X1950GT - same price but around 50% faster than the 8600GT

*Western Digital 3200AAKS 320GB Hard Drive - quiet, apparently.

*Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme

*Thermalright HR-03 or Arctic Cooling Accelero S1

Stuff from my existing system:

*Antec NeoHE 430W PSU

*AOpen Case

*Sony DVD Writer

Opinions please! :D

I like it. I wouldn't change anything. I say the S1 over the HR-03 simply because of the price difference. S1 keeps my X1950 Pro at 45C idle and 70C load even when OC'ed (640/700). No intake fan either.

The S1 isn't available locally though, so once you add on all the costs of importing, it'll probably work out to the same price. But with that said, I really like the S1.

For anyone interested in comparing the two, i found this really in depth review:

The S1 does a much better job here when running passively, although there isn't much between them once fans are added.

Has anyone here tested both of these coolers?
