Here's my system specs:
Asus M2A-VM
AMD Athlon X2 BE-2400
2GB RAM
Antec NSK-3480
Seagate 7200.11 80GB HD
I started to notice a high pitched whine coming from my new computer recently. I originally thought it was the hard drive, but when I discovered by dragging the scroll bar up and down really fast that the whine would stop or be muted partially, I figured it couldn't be the hard drive.
Anyway, using a paper towel roll and placing it over areas of the motherboard I figured it must be coming from the motherboard coils or something.
This morning I plugged in a USB stick to get ready to see if downgrading my bios would help (I previously upgraded to the latest bios 1705). When I plugged it in, the whine went away!!!
Next I disabled the EHCI USB 2.0 option in the BIOS, rebooted, and NO WHINE!
What gives? Could this be operating system/software related, or is this definitely a hardware/bios issue???

I have no idea what causes it, but I will have to try disabling EHCI...
Rather annoying whine...
