Microsoft Outlook envelope notification in task bar

Post by Stephen » Thu Jan 07, 2010 4:41 pm

I have Windows 7 64 bit, Microsoft Outlook 2007. I have Outlook set to show a notification envelope in the task bar when I receive mail, and Outlook also set to check every 20 minutes for mail when I am off-line. Neither of those things are happening. Any ideas? :(

"every 20 min when I'm offline"

I don't understand this..how can it check email if you are offline?

Also, the little mail icon should be showing up when you get mail. Try playing around with the mail "unread" settings. I have win 7 x64 and 2007 outlook with no problems. However, it does have issues with my mail server..but that's cuase my schools servers suck.

the envelope notification does not work if there is a filter that moves the emails from the default Inbox into another folder.

As far as I know, mail goes into the default inbox.

Have you set the envelope icon to "Show icon and notifications" (click the up arrow on the left edge of the notification area, and customize)? Not sure if this is the default behavior, but I remember having to fiddle around a bit to get the envelope with Office2k3 on Win7x64 RC and this is one of the areas I may have made changes to.
