building passively cooled system with HDPLEX H1.S

I wanted to build PC that
  • -is silent (without any moving parts)
    -is "enough powerful"
    -shall have direct AC input as power supply (no external AC/DC converter)
    -shall have dual Ethernet connection (as "networking" device)
    -Wi-Fi /BT
    -"compact in size"
My intention was not to build passive cooled high performance gaming PC but rather something that
is tailored for my personal preferences, ... is compact, silent, can be used as "networking" device
and is "enough powerful" (whatever that means).

I ended up with configuration as outlined below with total HW costs of ~ 770 $ (Q1/2017)

Building up this PC was quite straight forward.
It took me one day to assemble all the parts in to working PC.
Putting all the components in to HDPLEX H1.S chassis and arranging
heating dissipation was also straight forward (when following instructions).

Since this PC is passively cooled I was mainly interested on its heat dissipation performance.
To get an idea how "cool" this PC indeed is i made few tests (using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility)

Temperature monitoring (CPU heating dissipation):
  • 1) Default benchmarking test: during test cycle CPU temperature reached 55 C. while between tests CPU were at around 30 C.
    2) CPU stress test: several test cycle (each 20 min) were conducted. CPU temperature was rising / converging with time up to level slightly above 60 C. Also memory test test showed similar results (same CPU temperature trending).
    3) YouTube HD video application (1080 HD movie) running for one hour: CPU temperature was stable around 30 C.
This PC is used in "always on" mode and if there is no activity it goes in sleep mode.
Generally I am quite satisfied with cost/performance/features of this PC and I believe it is good performing with regard to heat dissipation,

Because I don`t have reference (same configuration which is actively cooled) to compare
experts opinion /feedback on heating dissipation performance of this PC would be very much appreciated.

Temps look fine. You can tell from the steep decline in core temp when you transition from load to idle that the CPU/heatsink interface is in good shape.

BTW:
Small correction on PC configuration.
I use HDPLEX NanoATX 80W which makes BOM cost 15 $ less.
So, in total system HW cost are around 757 $
