5 sec question: NB chipset cooler

Post by Shazkar » Thu Aug 04, 2005 4:49 pm

What should I get that is both quiet and will cool well enough for some nice overclocking...?

I have an EPOX EP9NPA mobo (NForce4 Ultra).

Thanks.

Coolermaster Blue Ice-minus the fan-if you have room. It is bigger, more fins and has heatpipes,basically-like a little Ninja for the chipset. The Zalmans can probably handle a slight OC,but a hardcore OC would really warm up that chipset. If you set up a bracket to nount an 80mm or bigger low RPM fan to blow across the chipset HS,then the Zalmans would be okay, basically the 1000rpm 80mm would be replacing the 5000 rpm stock 40mm noisemaker. the more techie Blueice should do okay without a special closemount fan,but a good exhaust still is major.

It should go without saying that there is a LOT of trade off with silence vs overclocking. Dragsters are not economy commuter cars, its a similar thing
