Hey,
I just recived my new cpu for my hopefully silent pc
I was expecting the last 2 characters of the OPN to be 'BP' but mine has 'BW' javascript:emoticon('')
Crying or Very sad
So i went to amd home and did a search on the link below for my CPU:
http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/desktop/Default.aspx
I then selected the details for the CPU i recieved and the CPU i was expecting to see if the specs are different:
BW:
http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/desktop ... 3200DAA4BW
BP:
http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/desktop ... 3200DAA4BP
There are 2 differences:
1> The Max Temp for the BW is 65 where as the BP has a Max Temp of 70 (this is worrying)
2> the Stepping is E6 for the BW and E3 for the BP.
Ok my questions
1) What core is this BW chip ?
2) Should i be worried about the 5 degree max temp difference ?
3) What difference does the stepping have (it sounds like it would affect overclocking)
4) If i asked specifically for a venice core in my order, (i guess this will depend on an answer to number 1) should i be able to return for the BP chip ?
3200+ just arrived, but its a 'ADA3200DAA4BW' ??

Ok, i had seen that post before but didnt make the connection, thanks for the heads up.
I guess my searchs failed as i was looking at the 3200+ option and most of the discussions around this focus on the 3000+.
Anyways... i read the post and am still a bit confused. There appears to be 2 distinct opinions (i say opinion as i saw no real evidence pointing either way).
1. is a fault dual core chip with one core turned of.
2. its a revision on the BP Venice core for certain errata points.
Has anyone found anything concrete that points either way, as to which chip is prefered as a low power SPCR option.
