MSI K8NGM2-NBP on-baord video

Post by sdheda » Sat Apr 15, 2006 9:02 am

I plan on using the MSI K8NGM2-NBP motherboard, and I was wondering if the on-board video will be enough for my needs. I do not play any games, I mostly use my computer to watch movies, recorded TV shows, and browse the internet.

Thanks in advance.

Another vote of confidence. The Geforce 6150 is a damn capable chipset.

I'm going to build an HTPC with one of the MSI 6150 motherboards, probably in the Antec Fusion (whenever it shows up.)

What would be the best processor? This machine won't be used for any gaming, it just needs to record and play back video.

And then it'll be interesting to know what CPU cooler will fit into the Fusion, too.

I am also planning to build a system with the MSI K8NGM2-NBP.

Does anyone have the board and can comment??

I have a MSI K8NGM2-FID with a 165 opty and a Ninja SCNJ 1000 on it.

So far so good. The stock cooler with that opty is a good one. The Ninja only dropped my temps 3 degrees with both cores @100%. A waste of my money and time.

Anyone know how the onboard video would compare to a PCI Express 6600GT for playback of dvds at 480 i (ideally with 1:1 pixel mapping to a front projector such as an Infocus 4805)?
