New Zalman NB cooler.

Post by Fwapp » Fri May 19, 2006 1:31 pm

Hi everyone, my first post after a long while lurking, so please be gentle!

I've noticed over at QuietPC, they have some details and a stock date for the new Zalman NB cooler. It's the same one shown in some previous postings, blue and flower like. Retail price is £10.

I need to replace the incredibly noisy fan on my Asus A8N-E MB, so i'll probably wait for this. The release date will probably tie in with the purchase of Arctic coolings passive cooler for my 7600GT!

£10??? Things are really expensive in the UK.

The ZM-NB47J costs €4.7 here, and the ZM-NB32K €4.2, with VAT...

Looks great though.

nice find 8)

I was just about to purchase 2x ZM-NB47J for an A8N-E and a NF7-S v2

Doubt the NF7-S will need this new one but the A8N-E will be better off with this improvement

They don't call it Rip-Off Britain for nothing.

I dunno, I havn't had any issues with the ZM-NB47J (blue, pins) on my Asus A8N5X. The placement of the chipset means it doesn't get in the way of video cards, and the board itself is DIRT CHEAP.

Unless you MUST have SLI, I recommend the A8N5X plus a Zalman cooler.

The £10 price is for the new NB cooler. I bought the old NB47J for £3.90, inc delivery! Mind you I've seen it on sale for £12 as well, so the R-O-B tag still applies !

So what's so special about this new one, besides the support for pin type mounting?

Hello,

It looks like it has greater surface area than the older designs, and it looks like it would likely take better advantage of air flow through the case?

Maybe if you have one of those motherboards that have the NB right where a cooler would intersect the video card, you could bend the fins away to either side so that it clears? I haven't looked into this, this is just off the top of my head. :P I guess it depends on how you could install it though.
