I don't think there's been a comparison test.
My impression from reviews is that if you have the space (i.e. there is no GPU card sat on top of your NB) the HR-05 will perform better and it's cheaper. If not, it's the Jing Ting (if it's available in your country...)
The Thermalright website has links to HR-05 reviews (ignore the A1-electronics review, it's a joke!) and a quick Google will reveal Jing Ting reviews.

Greetings,

I would suggest the new Zalman "flower" as it's wide spaced fins might be better at using the passive air flow through a case?

Quite possibly Neil but I've yet to see a review of it (is it even on their website yet?)
Of the two initial options, the HR-05 jumps out with it's large surface area 'radiator' style for passive use.
It will certainly be interesting to see how the new Zalman stacks up performance and price wise.

EDIT:ZM-NBF47 is on the Zalman website and costs approx twice the NB47J price.

Thank you for reply. HR-05 seems to be better than JingTing?
I'm thinking to change from ZM-NB47J
In my county HR-05 is about $13 cheaper than JingTing JTS-0005.
It's atractive price :D

Some motherboards will limit your choices. Most motherboards with Nforce 4 SLI NB chips will have the NB located right under the location of the first video card slot and of the three heatsinks talked about in this thread only the Chipforce cooler will work.

My motherboard had a passive heatsink that was aluminum about 1 cm x 6 cm x 8 cm. And it was hot to the touch. I would estimate that the surface temperature of the heat sink was around 60C. I replaced it with the Chipset cooler and the copper part that sits on the chip is basically room temerature now. My BIOS does not display the NB temp and there is no way to get a read out so I don't know how much cooler it actually is.

Agreed, as stated in my first post (I have the same problem!)

Is that the Jing Ting Chipset coller you mean and where are the phot'os?
Have you not got access to a cheap temp probe/thermometer? I bought a cheapo multimeter with temp probe for AU$15 or you could maybe use a childs digital thermometer.

Sorry for late reply. I changed case and did some mod.
Even if I take into account some changes , HR-05 cools better than ZM-NB47J.

Past condition , NB temp was 80C- over(room temp is around 23C-). After some quick fix , NB temp was around 70C-(room temp 25C-).

After the HR-05 , the NB temp is down to 45C- ~ 50C-(room temp is around 30C-)

For more detail system information, I posted my rig here.

NB temps are colored red.

This is M/B ares's pic.

As you can see, firstly HR-05 hit the VGA cooler's heatpipe both direction horizontal and vertial. So I managed to put with 30 degree direction. If its base is on center of push pin holes' diagonal , I think it can be put on any degree.

I hope this post help you choose NB cooler :)

Thanks for the update and build pictures monosound. 8)
If I can get a hold of the prototype mentioned by winguy in this thread then I'll be very happy!
