mATX to fit 7900GTX / XFi

Post by acaurora » Wed Jul 05, 2006 11:28 am

as the topic states, I am looking for a mATX motheboard to support a Socket 939 AMD Athlon 3700+ along with a 512 MB 7900GTX / X-Fi (meaning it has to have 1 PCI Express X16 and 3 PCI Slots - if it has only 2 there will be less than an inch of space between the cooler for the 7900GTX and the XFi... very bad!) . I want it to be all nVidia, I hate ATi with a passion. I have found these two candidates from Gigabyte that seem to fit the bill, but am wondering if any of you know of any better ones out there, possibly with DVI (I know I will be using this super high end card, so its not really necessary, but I'd still like it if it had it).

If you can somehow overcome your hatred for ATI, their chipsets run cooler - which will allow you to put a passive heatsink on it.

Anyways, if you are cool with an ATI chipset, really want integrated graphics with DVI, and need an extra space between lowest PCI slot and the 7900 cooler, then here's your best bet: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813136007

ATi has done nothing but wrong to me in all my experience with them. It is pretty concrete that I do not want to go with ATi.
