MSI MS-7199 VIA C7.......mini ITX.
Link. I wonder if anyone is using this board.....or has read any reviews of the thing. This looks like it will fit right in a new project I'm considering.

Finding info on this board is difficult.....I did find one good review.....along with a bunch of good pictures. According to this review, this board should continue working ok, up to 100C. Pretty incredible. The power draw is slightly higher than I'd like......but ok. It also goes under the name of "Fuzzy CN700".

wow, that looks like quite a nice board. I'm glad to see all the interest in mini-itx popping up all of a sudden, half a year ago it was nigh impossible to find anything on mini-itx on SPCR.
I'm on a tight budget right now, so doubt I'll be working on my mini-itx rig before september or october, but if you get one Bluefront, I'd love to hear anything you have to report.
review looks good, but addressing your concern on power, bear in mind that these measurements are conducted with a 3.5" seagate 250GB hard drive, so you can subtract 12-15 Watts to get the figures for the board alone, making:
Idle: 22W
Load: 27W
which are more pleasurable figures considering this is probably AC power draw they measure.

The price is not so bad when you think about it. The CPU is included, as is the CPU heatsink. You don't need a fan on the heatsink, or a fan controller either.....plus you get a DVI output thrown in for free. Not bad.
I also am surprised so few SPCR rigs are Mini-ITX. Unless you're a gamer, who needs more power, this form factor can't be beat for quietness.....

to be honest, the only good thing about this board that i see is a dvi port...
sata is good too, now that i think about it. can do without it though.
btw, ewiz doesn't have it now, found it on logicsupply:
http://www.logicsupply.com/products/ms_7199
on the other hand, compared to the "ugly" board, or whatever the heck it's name:
http://www.logicsupply.com/products/d201gly
i am not so sure sata worth the extra $. dvi, yah, probably.
the ugly pulls 30w desktop and 40w load with 2.5" hd, a cd-rom and 2 fans; not as good as the board in question but it's faster as well.

yep, runs fine fanless. i slapped this one on:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/5934/ ... ?tl=g40c16
without hooking up the fan. it's inside a tiny itx case with a 80mm exhaust fan that's 9-volted and temperature controlled; barely moves any air.

For those interested in mini-itx, SPCR did an extensive review of the Via Epia EN12000E last year: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article609-page1.html
It's perfect for buiding a ultra quiet file server/PVR in a small mini-itx enclosure that runs 24/7.
